Char Dham refers to the four most sacred Hindu pilgrimage sites located in the Indian Himalayas. These shrines are visited by millions of devotees every year and are believed to help attain spiritual liberation (moksha).

The Four Char Dhams

    • Dedicated to Lord Vishnu

    • Located in Chamoli district, Uttarakhand

    • Part of both Char Dham and Chota Char Dham pilgrimages

    • Situated on the banks of the Alaknanda River.

Importance of Char Dham Yatra

  • The Char Dham Yatra is usually undertaken between April/May and October/November, depending on weather conditions.

  • Adi Shankaracharya popularized the Char Dham pilgrimage to revive Hinduism.

  • Completing the yatra is believed to cleanse sins and lead to spiritual enlightenment.

Best Time to Visit

  • May to June and September to October are considered the best months due to pleasant weather.

Itinerary

Itinerary:

Day 01  :--  Delhi Airport - Haridwar (200 kms / 2-3 hrs) 
Arrival at Jolly Grant Airport Dehradun, Meet & Assist further drive to Haridwar, enroute lunch. Later, drive to Haridwar and transfer to your Hotel. Visit Har-ki-Pauri for Ganga Aarti in the evening. Back to your hotel, Dinner & Overnight stay in the hotel .
 
Day 02: Haridwar – Barkot (170 Kms / 7-8 hrs) 
In The Morning After Breakfast and drive to Barkot via Mussoorie, and en-route visit Kempty fall. Later, continue driving to Barkot. On arrival Barkot Check In at Hotel.
 
Day 03: Barkot - Yamunotri - Barkot   (50 Kms / 1-2 hrs)  (6 Kms trek) 
After breakfast drive to Yamunotri, start Trek of 06 kms for Yamunotri, teke the Holy Dip in Garam Kund, than Pooja and Darshan of Shree Yamunotri Ji, after Darshan and Pooja, afternoon back to Badkot .Overnight stay at the Hotel. Hanuman Chatti: The confluence of Hanuman Ganga & Yamuna River. Yamunotri Temple: Maharani Gularia of Jaipur built the temple in the 19th Century. It was destroyed twice in the present century and rebuilt again. Surya Kund: There are a Number of thermal springs in the vicinity of the temple, which flows into numerous pools. The most important of these is Surya Kund. Divya Shila: A rock pillar, worshipped before entering the Yamunotri Temple.
 
Day 04: Barkot - Uttarkashi (80 Kms / 3 - 4 hrs) 
Morning leave for Uttarkashi, a drive of 80 kms. On arrival Uttarkashi check in at the hotel evening visit Vishwnath Temple, Overnight stay at the hotel. Uttarkashi : Situated at the bank of river Bhagirathi. The temple of Lord Vishwanath is located here where a massive iron trident is erected. The other important temples situated here are Ekadash Rudra, Bhairav, Gyaneshwar and Goddess Kuteti Devi.
 
Day 05: Uttarkashi - Gangotri – Uttarkashi (100 Kms per way 4 - 5 hrs
Early morning drive to Gangotri and on arrival take a holy dip in the sacred river Ganges, also called Bhagirathi at its origin. Perform Pooja after that and relax for some time in the lovely surroundings, afternoon drive back to Uttarkashi, on arrival check into the Hotel.
 
Day 06: Uttarkashi – Sitapur (220 kms / 8- 9 hrs) 
Morning after breakfast drive to Guptkashi, en-route visit Tehri Dam & continue journey towards Guptkashi. On arrival check in at the Camp / hotel. evening free at leisure. Overnight stay at hotel / Camp.
 
Day 07 Sitapur - Gaurikund  KEDARNATH (22 kms) 
Kedarnath (22 kms Trek) Morning drive to Gaurikund, Trek start from Gaurikund to Kedarnath (3584 mts) on foot or on by pony / Doli. Tour members should carry personal medicines, heavy woolen, toiletries and clothes for an overnight halt at Kedarnath. Check in Hotel. Later visit Kedarnath Temple . Night halt.
 
By Helicopter (not included)
After breakfast, we would proceed towards Kedranath. you will fly by helicopter from Guptkashi to Kedarnath. (Kedarnath temple priority pass is available Guptkashi helipad on Rs. 1100 by your own expenses) Reach Kedarnath visit Sri Kedarnath Temple for Darshan, make Aarti & pooja. and back to Guptkashi by helicopter service . Night dinner and Overnight stay in the hotel/resort.
 
Gaurikund: At a distance of 5kms from Sonprayag and at an altitude of 1982 meters., one can take bath in the hot water pond here and visit the Gauri Temple . This is the place where Goddess Parvathi meditated to attain Lord Shiva. It is the base for a trek to Kedarnath.
 
Day 08 Sitapur - Badrinath (225 kms 7-8 hrs) 
Drive to Badrinath via Joshimath. Check in Hotel. Later in the evening visit Badrinath Temple for Aarti. Overnight stay. Badrinath one of the 'Four Dhams' is one of the most celebrated pilgrimage spots of the country and is situated at an elevation of 3,133 meters, guarded on either side by the two mountain ranges known as Nar & Narayan with the towering Neelkanth Peak providing a splendid backdrop. This revered spot was once carpeted with wild berries. Thus the place got the name "Badri van", meaning "forest of berries"
 
Day 09 Badrinath Local Sightseeing 
Brahma Kapal is famous as a place of Lord Brahma, situated on the bank of river Alaknanda to the north of Sri Badrinath temple. Brahma Kapal is a flat platform where Hindus performs rituals like- ‘Shradh & Pind Dan’- for their deceased ancestors. It is believed that after offering ‘pind dan’ at Brahma Kapal, departed souls get ‘Moksha’.
 
Tapt-Kund Just below the Badrinath temple lies the Tapt Kund hot sulphur spring that has a high medicinal value. It is a freshwater pool with the bathing area of 16.1/2 feet by 14.1/4 feet. Even though the normal temperature of the spring is 55°c, the temperature of water keeps increasing gradually during the day. A dip in Tapt Kund is regarded as a good medical cure for skin diseases. Narad Kund Narad Kund is situated near Tapt Kund. It is believed that the Badrinath idol was obtained from this kund. 
Narad Kund hot water spring is positioned under the Garur Shila and holds a medicinal value. Devotees take a dip in this kund before entering the Badrinath temple for Darshan of Lord Badrinath. 
 
Vyas & Ganesh-Gufa Vyas & Ganesh-Gufa cave is located in the Mana Village along with many other caves. It is believed that in this cave Ved Vyas dictated his famous epic of Mahabharat to Ganesh and therefore it has been named Vyas Gufa. There is an idol of Ved Vyas shown writing the granth (epic book) inside this cave. 
 
Mata-Murti-Mandir Located 3 km from Badrinath on the right bank of the Alaknanda River, Mata Murti Mandir is an ancient temple devoted to Shri Badrinath’s mother. It is one of the top tourist places of the Mana Village. The legend related to this temple is that Mata Murti worshiped Lord Vishnu and requested him to be born as her son in his next birth. Agreeing to this, Lord Vishu came from her womb as twins, Nar and Narayan, in this world to kill the devil. These above-mentioned are some picturesque and eye-catching places located near the Badrinath temple that draw the attention and interest of a large number of travelers from around the world every year.
 
Day 10 Badrinath - Haridwar (280 kms 9-10 hrs) 
Early morning, after After Breakfast Proceed  Joshimath & visit Narsingh Temple & Shankracharaya Math.  and proceed to Srinagar  Garwahal Check in Hotel. Overnight stay at Srinagar Garwahal .
 
 
Day 11 Srinagar to - Jolly Grant Airport Dehradun (164kms/6hr) 30 May 2018
 
In The Morning After Breakfast,  Proceed To  Jolly Grant Airport Dehradun for return journey.
